WSP USA is seeking a highly motivated Senior Supervising Construction Engineer / Project Manager in our Herndon, VA office to support our thriving Transportation and Infrastructure practice in the region.
The Senior Supervising Construction Engineer performs as a Senior Resident Engineer or Project/Program Manager on a large, complex construction management and engineering activity on assigned project/program. The chosen candidate must be capable of analyzing all technical aspects of project/program, defining scope, and recommending major construction changes.
Plans, organizes, and supervises construction engineering activities for a major project
Serves as the contracting officer’s technical representative for the management and inspection of contractor construction activities, payments, processing and negotiation of claims and change orders
Supervises a staff of construction management personnel consisting of engineers, inspectors, project control, office engineers, project administrators, and specialty sub-consultants
Supports the VA Construction Services Area Manager with other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in a directly-relevant field (e.g. Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering, etc.)
15+ years of progressively-responsible experience relevant to this role in transportation infrastructure construction
Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Virginia or ability to become registered within 6 months
Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is required.
Strong working knowledge of DOT policies and procedures relative to design and construction management projects.
Working knowledge of applicable standards, specifications and materials
Effective oral and written communication skills
MS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline
