We are offering the opportunity to be part of this unique experience through a summer internship with the Engineering team at our Satellite Network Operations Center (SNOC). As part of the internship program you will have the opportunity to work with both the Space Systems and Satellite Operations and Ground Development departments. Intern will learn many aspects of Space Vehicle operations from the engineering perspective. They will work with Platform engineers to develop operations products which can be used for training, data analysis, investigation, and anomaly recovery. Intern will work with experts and users. They will use programming to make operational tools to simplify workload. Intern will also receive first-hand experience of routine satellite operations including commanding satellites! Furthermore, they will assist in the maintenance of our suite of Real Time Operations software tools.
This is a full-time paid internship position (40 hours per week). The summer intern(s) will begin in mid to late May and work through the beginning to mid-August.
What you will learn:
During your 12 week internship program you will receive hands on exposure and have the opportunity to learn more regarding the following activities:
Mission Real Time Operations including:
Learn basic command and control
learning basic Operations Support including checklist maintenance, passplan development, basic trouble shooting of Software
Procedure and Checklist Development, Job aid development, Real Time State of Heath Rule generation, and Training Package development.
Improving web based tools used by Iridium staff to monitoring call metrics
Passplan generation and verification for support of K/L Band activities
Tool script generation
Generating & analyzing daily and long term trend data
Satellite Hardware database entry and maintenance
Support of daily Operations & Slot Swap meetings
Review On-orbit acceptance test reports
Perform K-band and L-Band link analysis
Current enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with a strong preference for STEM related degrees (Engineering, Computer Science)
Basic Java programing, and database skills
Exposure to Perl, Python, Matlab, HTML preferred
Eager to tackle new projects.
Self-starter with track record of leadership.
Ability to take assignments and run with them.
Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university working on a technical Bachelors Degree
